Only what you type into one of the two forms on this page.
We use it for that and nothing else. We don’t sell it, we don’t rent it, and we don’t pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
We ask first. Nothing is set until you choose. The first time you open this site you’ll get a bar at the bottom with Accept and Decline, and if you decline, no analytics cookie is ever written and neither Google nor Microsoft is contacted. You can change your mind whenever you like: “Cookie choice” at the bottom of any page reopens it, and declining after accepting also clears what was already set. Declining changes nothing about how the site works.
If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the page is being used. It sets cookies on your device and sends Google your IP address, the pages you open, roughly where you are, and what kind of device and browser you’re on. Google processes that in the United States on our behalf.
We look at it in totals. We don’t use it to identify you, we haven’t turned on advertising or remarketing features, and nothing from these forms is sent to Google.
We also record how the page is used. If you accept, Microsoft Clarity records your visit: where you move your mouse, what you click and tap, and how you scroll. It plays back as an anonymous session we can watch, which is how we find the parts of the page that don’t make sense. Microsoft processes that in the United States on our behalf. It sets its own cookies, and declining stops it entirely.
What the recording does not capture: anything you type into the forms. The name, email, handle and note fields are masked before the recording is made, so those keystrokes never reach Microsoft. We don’t use recordings to identify anyone, and we can’t tie one to your name or email.
Other ways to opt out: Google publishes an add-on for most desktop browsers at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and blocking cookies for this site in your browser settings has the same effect. Nothing on this page stops working either way.
Those are the only cookies here. We don’t set any of our own, and there’s no advertising on this site.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
You can also email us and ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We’ll do it and confirm it. You don’t have to give a reason.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled something, tell us first - we’d rather fix it. If that doesn’t resolve it, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Your details: until you ask us to delete them, or until it’s clear the list has served its purpose. If we ever decide not to build this, we’ll delete the lists and say so.
Analytics, if you accepted: Google holds it for 14 months, then deletes it. Session recordings, if you accepted: Microsoft holds them for 30 days, then deletes them. Your Accept or Decline is remembered in your own browser, not on our servers.
